Fresh water is critically important for the survival of all living beings. Though many of them can survive on salt water, but most of the insects, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds, and the great majority of higher plants need fresh water for their survival. Again, this water is not always safe for drinking by humans; as much of the surface and ground water is unsuitable for human consumption without a treatment.
Urosepsis usually develops from a community or nosocomial acquiredurinary tract infection (UTI) or during the procedure of various urinarydisease such ureterorenoscopy (URS) and percutaneousnephrolithotomy (PCNL). Urosepsis is associated with bacteriuria,Urosepsis due to manipulation during or after percuteneousnephrolithotomy (PCNL) or ureterorenoscopy (URS) or push bangstenting can be catastrophic despite prophylactie antibiotic coverage.This cross sectional study was carried out in Dhaka Medical CollegeHospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period of July 2011 to June 2013.

Mitral valve replacement (MVR) plays a central role in the management of patients with mitral stenosis with moderate to severe pulmonary hypertension. Pulmonary hypertension has an impact on short term outcome of MVR. It can influence left ventricular function (low output syndrome), incidence of arrhythmia, ARDS leading to respiratory failure and right ventricular failure which may be irreversible.
Coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) is expensive, uses disposable appliances and patients require more perioperative intensive care, long stay in hospital and often have a lengthy recovery time. These complications, together with the growing trend towards less invasive techniques in other areas of surgery, have encouraged cardiac surgeons to see if minimally invasive cardiac surgery can become a reality with improved outcomes and costs.
Postoperative cardiac dysfunction is a common cause of mortality and morbidity associated with CABG Surgery. Adenosine enhances tolerance of the myocardium to ischemic arrest. Therefore, the study on adenosine pre-treatment as an adjunct to cardioplegia in patients undergoing CABG will definitely help to provide better myocardial protection for better postoperative outcome.
Homocysteine is increasingly recognized as an independent risk factor for vascular disease specially peripheral arterial occlusive diseases. In the present study, an attempt was made to find out the association between the raised fasting plasma total homocysteine level and early onset atherosclerotic peripheral arterial occlusive diseases (PAOD).

প্রজাপতির জীবনচক্র কয়েকটি ধাপে সম্পন্ন হয়ে থাকে। প্রতিটি স্তরই আলাদা আলাদা বৈশিষ্ট্য সম্পন্ন। প্রজাপতির জীবনচক্রে ডিম, শুয়োপোকা বা লার্ভা, পিউপা এবং পুর্নাঙ্গ প্রজাপতি এই চারটি ধাপ পরিলক্ষিত হয়। এ ধরণের জীবনচক্র মেটামরফসিস বা রুপান্তর নামেও পরিচিত।
প্রজাপতিগুলিকে শক্তির জন্য সূর্য থেকে প্রাপ্ত শক্তির উপর নির্ভর করতে হয়। এজন্য প্রজাপতিগুলোকে সূর্যের আলোতে পাখা প্রসারিত করে সূর্যের আলো থেকে শক্তি নিতে দেখা যায়। এভাবে তারা নিজেদের দেহের অভ্যন্তরীন তাপমাত্রা বাইরের পরিবেশের তাপমাত্রা থেকে বৃদ্ধি করতে পারে। এজন্যই হয়তো প্রজাপতির পাখার রং এতো উজ্জ্ব রঙিন হয়।
প্রাণশক্তিতে ভরপুর উদ্ভিদ নিজেদের টিকিয়ে রাখার জন্য কত রকম কৌশল অবলম্বন করে তা নিয়ে বিজ্ঞানিরা অক্লান্ত পরিশ্রম করেও সবকিছু উন্মুক্ত করতে পারেননি। ৪০-৫০ হাজার বছর পর্যন্ত ঘাপটি মেরে পড়ে থাকা পদ্মের বীজ অনুকুল পরিবেশ পেলে অঙ্কুরোদগম হয়। এমন কথা শুনলে অনেকের ধারনা হবে এটাও আফ্রিকার মানুষ খেকো উদ্ভিদের মত শুধুই রোমাঞ্চকর ও চিত্তাকর্ষক গল্প।
কোন রোগ কতটা ভয়ানক, তার ভয়াবহতা যাচাই করার অন্যতম জনপ্রিয় একটি উপায় হল রোগবাহী জীবাণুর বেসিক রিপ্রোডাকশন নাম্বার নির্ণয় করা। একজন রোগাক্রান্ত রোগী তার মাধ্যমে আরো কতজনকে আক্রান্ত করতে পারে, সেই সংখ্যাই হল বেসিক রিপ্রোডাকশন নাম্বার, অথবা R0 (আর-নট)।
