Description

These are small, long-tailed pigeons. They are among the common garden birds. Overall brown body with darker centers to the back and wing feathers. They have rosy breasts and there is a unique white-spotted black nape patch. Head is grey and grey-brown neck and underpart. White-tipped tail becomes clear in flight. Sexes are alike in plumage.

They move in pairs. They mainly feed on grass seeds, grains, fruits, seeds of other plants, and also on winged termites.

Spotted doves are native to south-east Asia and Indian subcontinent.
