Thymoquinone against infectious diseases: Perspectives in recent pandemics and future therapeutics

Nature Study Society of Bangladesh (NSSB) is devoted for the conservation of nature and its resources, and use natural resources in every possible way for the betterment of earth and humankind. NSSB is also interested in scientific research. Due to many obstacles at this moment NSSB could not be established as a research institute yet, but we believe, NSSB will be able to be established as a scientific research organization too. With this aim, NSSB welcomes scientists and researchers to work in collaboration.

Here is the first scientific article of NSSB (as primary affiliation) published in Iranian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences (SCI-listed, with recent impact factor 2.699)

This work was lead by Dr. Mousumi Tania (visiting researcher of NSSB), supported by some young fellows from different institutes of Bangladesh, and coordinated and supervised by Professor Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan (Chairman, NSSB) and Dr. Md Asaduzzaman Khan (an academician and scientist from Southwest Medical University of China).

In this review article, we have discussed the role of thymoquinone against different infectious diseases, including COVID-19 and recent pandemics, and also critically reviewed the future use of thymoquinone to fight against different infectious diseases.
Thymoquinone is a natural product and active ingredient of black cumin (Nigella sativa). It is well known that black cumin seeds and oil have pharmacological and medicinal properties and are popularly known as ‘Prophetic medicine’, as the prophet Muhammed (Sm) has described its curative powers in every illness except death.

We hope and wish, the pandemic gets over and the whole humankind gets relief and back to normal, healthy and peaceful life.
We hope and wish the scientific research of NSSB begins from here.
