Description
A powerful, small, fast flying bird having a long tail and a rufous crown and nape and also moustachial stripe. It has a wide yellow eye ring. Its upperpart is blue-grey, finely barred with dark grey to black and underpart is white with fine barrings.
Females are about 10% larger than males.
It mainly hunts bird, bats, large insects targeting from a perch and brings down its prey quite close to the ground.
Distribution: They are resident in sub-Saharan Africa, India and Nepal. They prefer semi-desert, palm Savannah, sparse vegetation.
